Exercise to Flatten Stomach

Because this is my story, the highs and lows on the way to finally achieving a well toned stomach. It includes the ups and downs, what worked what did not work and finally the one thing that did help me achieve my goal of a flat stomach.

I was 24 overweight and underdeveloped, lacking in self confidence, no girlfriend and was sick and tired of what I saw in the mirror.

I tried exercising like crazy, crunches were my middle name. I began to hate the gym and the time I was spending there. I spent a fortune on every supposed miracle cure or latest gadget that might improve my abs. I spent an hour a day on cardio fitness, but still the flat abdomen I was looking for did not appear.

Then one day I happened to notice a reference to a guy named Mike Geary. I was intrigued by the growing number of testimonials I found around the internet.

Everything changed when I started his program.  In 6 months I’ve lost over 50 lbs and my body fat is now down from 30% body fat down to 9%.

The program’s teachings helped deal with most people’s problems in developing a flatter stomach and that is losing the stubborn stomach fat that is covering up the abs. For once I had full descriptions and photos of all of the most effective abdominal exercises. These things not only worked but I could see them working in a short space of time, providing me with further motivation.

Another fact I learned was that exercises targeted at just your abs are the least important part removing the belly fat covering your abs.

A Flatter Tummy

In a bid to find get a flatter tummy many people rush straight to the shops to purchase the latest gadgets, ab-rockers, ab-belts, or whatever the latest fad may be. It will come as little surprise that many of these tools no or little effect. (Note this is a summary of a few key points click here if you want full details)

There are two key factors in developing your abs or flattening your tummy and those are diet and exercise and surprisingly to many in that order of priority.

With respect to your diet the questions you need to ask yourselves are of quality as well as quantity/calorific value. The variables to your success include the amount of processed foods you consume, the calorific values, amount of protein and your liquid intake.

Another popular myth surrounds the best exercise for your abdomen. Isolation of the abdomen in exercising, so common in today’s gyms across the country is not the best way to gain a healthy flat stomach or reveal your abs, whichever is your preference.

Compound exercises exercise other muscle groups as well as the abdomen and increase your metabolism (fat burning potential) both during exercise and for days afterwards, developing that super looking stomach in no time.

Mike Geary expands upon these ideas giving a comprehensive step by step approach to how men or women can achieve their ideal tummy shape (with or without abs!).  His approach does not require gym membership, contains many tips, detailed exercise regimes that vary as your strength progresses and superb dietary related information/recipes.

abs exercises – dos and donts

Before exploring an exercise to flatten stomach areas there are a number of simple things you can do to enhance your progress.

Having got myself to a place where I am truly happy with my body, many people have asked me if I have any “do’s” and “don’ts” to pass on. Well off the top of my head……

DO NOT

  • Perform situps
  • Use crunches as your main form of exercise
  • Skip meals (see 5 meals below)
  • Weigh yourself daily

DO

  • Perform full body exercises
  • Concentrate on your diet
  • Interval training
  • Drink lots of Water
  • Eat 5 small meals a day (not 3!)
  • Add variety to workouts
  • Stretch and warm up completely

Whatever you do keep an open mind to all options, some work better for certain body types and take some form of positive action now!#
